Is it a natural side effect of a Chemical Peel to have the treated skin be darkened?

My skin has darkened after my Chemical Peel, what can I do? Is tthis natural?

Yes, it is possible for the skin to darken after a chemical peel. This depends largely on the depth of the peel and the type of skin you have. It sounds like what you are describing is post traumatic hyperpigmenation. Normally this will resolve on it's own over a short period of time but you should consult your practitioner about your situation.

Depending on the type of peel used, yes there can be a darkening of the skin. Generally the deeper peels like TCA will darken the skin more than say a Jessner or Vitalize peel.

This is a not normal response from the chemical peel. One likely possiblity is that your skin burned and now has left an area of hyperpigmentation (darkened skin). There are number of reasons why this could happen such as using too strong of an acid, leaving it on too long, mixing different products with the acid, imprope after care, or improper selection of acids. You would need to have this evaluated by your physician or to a physician
and to consider using a bleaching cream.
